Before founding Bootstrap Tutors, Dr. Ryan Judkins spent six years teaching at The Ohio State University, where he earned his doctorate in English, and then another three at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. After nine years as an English professor and five as a private tutor, he founded Bootstrap in the winter of 2014. Having designed and taught over two dozen college courses to thousands of students, he was frustrated by the sacrifices teachers must make in order to educate students in traditional programs. Bootstrap was his solution. Focused on supplementing those programs, Bootstrap offers a one-on-one education with a world-class tutor who has the time and ability to design a customized curriculum for every student. While not running Bootstrap, Dr. Judkins publishes on English literature and teaches the occasional university course. Some of his recent publications are available online. He is also a licensed Massachusetts teacher for grades 5 to 12. A proud resident of Swampscott, MA, he loves to hike and read in his spare time. His most memorable hiking trip to date was backpacking 140 miles in 10 days solo on the Fife Coastal Path and the Southern Upland Way in Scotland.
